Communication in the workplace…?
ByWhat are some ways in which sexist language can hinder the process of communication?
Please THINK about the question BEFORE you answer it because the 2 answers I have so far have left me feeling like people are either NOT reading or are just retarded…

i think in IMing and shit because translation is usually lost and you cant really interpet what people are saying when they type a message. there is no emotion to it so people automatically think the worst even if it was meant to not be harmful at all.

When the other person is offend by what you said.
If in doubt do not say it.

well, the person who interprets the message can be turned off by it, and not open to further conversations. this can result in a degradation of throughput.

Some people feel insulted by sexist language. Mainly because it creates an image where women have lower social status than men. If they are feeling insulted, their focus has changed and communication is disrupted.
