How To Find Music Production Jobs

Posted by: Owen Jones | Comments (0)

You would imagine that once you have your degree in Music Production you would be well on your way, would you not? But it does not usually work like that. It is erroneous that getting a degree makes procuring a job easier, because there are more people going for jobs with degrees than ever before and we are in an era when every business is searching for savings. It is the case though that you will not ge a decent job with prospects without a degree any more.

So, you have your degree in music production and firms are not falling over themselves to hire you, so what do you do now? Well, one of the things that you should do is put your creative talent to work to find ways to get a career in the music industry. Before we get onto the issue of looking for a career, there are a few items that you have to know about music firms.

Most young people dream of procuring into the music industry and rubbing shoulders with stars even if they do not have any talent. Because of this the music industry as a whole seldom has to advertise for vacant jobs although they may be required to by law in some countries.

They will just pay lip service to this law because it is daft, a pacifier and unenforcable. They will promote from within, use family and hire head-hunters, just like most firms do.

This means that it is at least as much who you know as what you know and this means networking. You will have to learn how to network to get yourself at least an interview. Attempt to get in even if it means on the lowest rung of the ladder, as an intern.

The great majority of companies that take interns fill vacant positions with the best and most eager interns. The drawback is that interns get paid very little if at all. But if government can get away with it so will industry.

The first step to take after acquiring your degree is to study up on the career you would like and the company you would like it with. You know how to do that. Learn as much about the career and the company as you can. Then draw up a list of all the people you know who may be able to help you or vouch for you.

Teachers, lecturers, bands you roadied for, concerts you helped out on – anything – and contact them. Ask if they know of anything going and get their permission to use their name in an interview or career application.

Send out resumes to the exact person by name who has the authority to hire or recommend you. This involves more research. This is a long shot because music production companies are swamped with resumes, but follow yours up with a second letter and enclose a stamped self-addressed envelope. Send a third too, why not? Then begin following it up by email and phone.

Stay calm, be agreeable, but say that you would like a reply and if you have been turned down with reasons why so that you can correct your short-comings. Try to learn from set-backs and one day it will work out for you.

Producing Free Podcasts

Posted by: Peter Quaid | Comments (0)

Of course the cheapest way to get free podcasts is when you do it yourself. There are many ways and means that you can use to create a podcast but you will find the process very cheap. Basically, you only require a computer and a microphone, not the sophisticated studio types but anything can do, even the small microphone that you bought with your computer.

It does not matter what you do, you can certainly improve your profile with a podcast and list it on a podcast directory. If you have a hobby that you would like others to know about or if you have a product that you want to promote then the way to go is the free podcast. Just like the name suggests, you will spend very little doing it but you will achieve maximum benefits out of your venture. Podcasting is fun, and make no mistake about it; you no longer have to be a popular radio station broadcaster to be able to air your views to the masses. Right from the comfort of your home, you can produce your own talk show and air it to millions of listeners by getting listed on a podcast directory.

One may wonder how free the free podcasts are. They can be absolutely free, if you produce from home, have it hosted for free and also have a site that will bring the listeners to you. You will really know that it is indeed free if you try to follow the normal procedure of recording and publishing your voice in a studio. Hefty regulations and fees will drag you down and the solution is the free podcast. The best thing with podcasts is that the listener chooses to listen to yours mostly if it appeals to them by perusing through a podcast directory. It is not like radio where the listener listens to what the presenter wants them to hear.

Why are you doing your free podcasts? Once you have answered that question, then you can prepare and record a message that is relevant to the reason. If for example you want to do your podcast so that you can pass a selling message, it will be very beneficial to you because people respond more to a voice recording especially if listed on a credible podcast directory. The listeners choose to listen to your podcast unlike radio.

You do not have to be an expert to use podcasting to work for you, but you only require a basic knowledge of your computer. Start with the simple equipment and then as you go along, you can buy more sophisticated equipment to up your podcasting game. After you are ready, seek out how you can have your free podcasts posted on a podcast directory.

Podcasting is a fairly new term in the internet community. Podcasting basically means creating a radio-show which other people can listen online and download to a digital player or computer later. There are hundreds of tools that popularize podcasting. Podcasts can be made for absolutely every topic that pops out in your mind and podcasts aren’t made by professional orator, but instead of everyday people. This allows you to hear different opinions and thoughts about the topics that interest you the most. Podcasts give you complete freedom, because you are not obligated to be in front of the TV or radio so that you will be able to listen to the show. Podcasts can be listened to whenever you want.

Podcasts give you the latest news and information about a topic which is in your interest. Like this you can listen to a podcasts about complex numbers while drinking your morning coffee. All the tools that offer podcasts get them ordered in different classes so that the user can easily be pointed to the topics which he wants. Most of the tools offer you not only a sorting system, but also a ranking one. This way you can leave the bad quality podcasts in the background and only see the best podcasts and podcast authors.

Of course instead of only listening to podcasts you also try to make some of your own. It isn’t hard and doesn’t require any extra gear. For starters you will need to find a podcasting website which offers podcasting tutorials thus showing you the basic steps which will guide you into podcasting. The tools that you need are a media recorder or microphone and an connection to the internet.. When all this is done you can decide about which topic you want to be talking to the podcasts and on which podcasting tool you will share the final podcasts. However you may make podcasts not only for fun, but even for profit.

Podcasting is getting more and more fans as we speak. Podcasting is the most comfortable way to get in touch about the latest news about a certain topic of interest. The possibility to listen to the podcast whenever you want is also very attractive. You just upload it to a portable media player and you can listen to it on every place you want. This way you don’t have to worry about missing the TV news or an ordinary radio-show so you have the ability to save time and use it for something more important.

Other then that the thoughts expressed by the podcast artist may be the same as yours, this way you can start building a certain community which is interested in a topic and of course you can choose the users that are really interested in it and have something important to share about that given topic. And not only that, but if you are lucky enough you can even make a new friend who thinks like you and offers you the ability to talk about your favorite topics with someone who is interested in them. Podcasting is surely one of the most modern ways to create and grow new and old communities which want to share their thoughts about a certain topic.

2 Combatives and NLP sound therapist and holistic psychologist Jeff Moran gives his perspective 2Combatives and NLP- sound therapist and holistic psychologist Jeff Moran gives his perspective

http://www.streetfightsecrets.com/79.html

Whilst not a martial arts instructor alternative therapist and teacher Jeff Moran has had a big influence on my work, introducing me to many new concepts and ideas such as living in the Now, Eckhart Tolle, the power of sound, cymatics and some fascinating elements of New Age spirituality rooted in a practical approach to psychotherapy and counselling like transactional analysis and inner child work. It was Jeff who trained me to deliver seminars on motivation, memory and communication in schools across the UK. Under his tutelage I went from being a Taxi Driver to being a key note speaker at the Annual Education Conference alongside people like Tony Buzan. When it comes to holistic psychology, working with children or difficult clients, alternative therapies and emotional healing alongside the missing link of modern day self protection, self ertiveness training, Jeff is the dude.
This hour long chat came from a desire to promote two simple products of Jeffs, whose main passions are Sound and Cymatics- and the way different Sounds affect the brain and body. The two Sound products of Jeffs that I thought would be useful to martial arts students are his RelaxationCD- slowing the brain waves down, an EXCELLENT tool to just switch off and unwind and his Optimum Performance CD- designed using state of the art brainwave altering sound technology to organically speed up brain wave patterns over a 50 minute period to increase reaction time and improve reflexes. Both these CDs are up on the website http://www.streetfightsecrets.com/79.html Jeff has been good enough to offer us them at half price.
During this chat we learnt that both of us had trained under Aikido instructor and Spiritual guide Terry Ezra- for very different reasons but with similar results. I respect anyone who will pursue an obsession wherever it takes them and puts the good of others before personal gain.
So much of combatives and self protection and the material I have produced so far are focussed on the capacity to deliver destruction, I even have materials training you in how to deliver this destruction at a psychological and emotional level, and I think Jeff provides a good balance.
Jeff isnt a martial artist, but I think you will notice on these video clips he has that air about him that a lot of martial arts instructors have- and having seen him handle a roomful of rowdy 16 year olds I think I know where that comes from!
His views and opinions on my questions related to combatives are natural and off the cuff and some of them cut to the core of the issues very quickly. Its a breath of fresh air to talk to somebody outside our community who has no prior knowledge and no political affiliations.
Anyway, its an hour long chat so I hope you get the time to go through it, its worth it even if you only catch a bit of the flavour of what Jeff is drifting. This isnt namby pamby New Age posturing for bored middle class housewives this is rooted in direct, powerful technique to manifest change.
So if you have ever sought to actually model what I do instead of just following what I teach, you really should leap at this opportunity to listen to a person who I consider to be one of the biggest influences on my approach to the martial arts, teaching and life.
